Today was Jonah's bris. It was a really nice service, and we are all glad it's over (especially Jonah!). Uncle Seth took lots of pictures, and you can see them on his site, but we also posted a bunch of pictures on Jonah's Smugmug page as well.
Jonah's Hebrew name is Asher Dov. This name is for two really wonderful and fabulous women. We gave him the name Asher, which means happiness and beloved (and wealthy too), for dad's grandmother Audrey (aka Nana). The name Dov (and Ryan) is for mom's grandmother Renee (aka Gram). Both of these women were smart, strong, generous, loving and beautiful, with a great love of family (and fun!) and we are thrilled to give Jonah a name that honors them both. As for Jonah itself, we chose it because it's just an all-around great name, but it was sure a happy coincidence that it is so similar to mom's grandfather Joe (aka JoJo), and we hope that Jonah inherits JoJo's love of learning and adventure, and his generosity of spirit!
